Poster improved

This is my advertising poster after I have had feedback from my tutor. I have changed my ideas around to make the poster look more professional. I have taken away the images of the album and cut out part of the cover and placed it to the side of the poster. I have also changed the font of the text to make it more easier to read. Instead of having just th HMV logo, I have placed logos of popular companies who sell music videos and music so it looks more professional. It is showing that the video and the song is available from these places. I have also changed the stars underneath the quote. I wanted to make them stand out so I placed a thin white border around them.

Feedback on Products

I have asked 4 people on what they think of my products (album cover, album back and poster). Here is what they think:

Lee: I like the use of neon style colour added to the city in the background. I also like how the main character is bigger than the city, this follows conventions on the saying 'Big in the City'.

Katie: I like how professional it looks, because it does look like the real thing. I also like the fact that bright neon colours have been used as it is a direct link to the title. With the use of bright colours and the information used, it provides a great promotion for the album and provides a feeling of persuasion which encourages a person to buy the album. 10/10

Kelly: I like it how the main character fits in with the back ground on the cover. The poster is good, I like the colours that have been used. It looks very professional and I also like the layout of the poster.

Martyn: I like it how the background colour blends in with the text and the logo fits perfectly with the background. Both the front and back covers of the CD case are well designed and layed out as well as the realistic image of the dancer on the front and back.

Album inside slip

Second poster design

Here is my second design for my advertising poster. As you can see I have completely changed the layout. The first thing I changed was the background. I simply used a different image that I found on the internet and made it slightly lighter so that it didn't blend in with the album images. I decided to keep the title the same colour and font because I liked it on my first design. Like I said in my previous post, when I was researching advertising posters, I found that they had a company logo on them. So I simply copied the HMV logo and put it onto my poster. I also kept the quote and the five stars because I thought they were a good idea.

First poster design

This is my first poster idea for advertising the album. I wanted to keep it simple by putting the album cover and back onto the poster so that the audience can see what it is like before they buy it. I decided to make the background an image I found on the internet of some neon lights. I thought I would make the background stand out and represent what the album is called. I made the background lighter only slightly because I thought it would be too bright. I kept the amount of text to a minimum and kept the font simple but bold. I wanted to make the colour of the font different to the colour of the title because I thought it would look boring. But I feel now that red is the wrong colour. When I researched advertising posters, I found that most of them have an opinion from a popular magazine or music company, so I decided to add to my poster an opinion. I also thought it would look a bit better if I were to put five stars next to it because it would look more professional. Underneath I decided to put in big, bold letters ''BUY IT NOW'' because it will catch the audience's attention and make them want to buy it. I also found that on the advertising posters, they had the website of the artist at the bottom of the page. So I decided to put the name of the artist I have used at the bottom of my poster.

CD design

Here, I have done a design of what the CD would actually look like. This is because I want to use the actually CD design on the advertising poster.
I have tried to keep it as simple as possible but just decided to use a different background pattern. I will use this in the advertising poster and maybe put some text around it such as 'BUY IT NOW' etc.

Rough Cut

Rough Cut from Emily Shufflebottom on Vimeo.

This is my rough cut. It hasn't got any effects on yet but the final video will. It is just simply to see how it looks so far with the cuts and music timing etc.

Album Cover and Back

Here is a album cover that I personally like and may choose to use this as my final cover. I have changed the background completely but kept the lit up city idea. Like my other album cover idea, I used the same image of my actor and put him so that he is doing a hand stand on top of the building. I have also made the title so that it looks as if it is balancing on my actor's feet. I sharpened the background image to make it stand out more and did the same with the image of my actor. The text, I decided to keep simple to see how it would turn out. I wanted to make the text bold and eye-catching. I even decided to put a small motion trail on the text but it didn't turn out as I wanted. Maybe if I changed the colour of the text, it may turn out a bit better.

Here is the back to the album cover. I used a similar background image but I didn't want it to be exactly the same. I have used an image I have taken of my actor and flipped the image in Microsoft Fireworks because it was origionally the other way round. I have simply found an image of a barcode on the internet and placed it in the corner so that I could place the text at the top of the page. I have used exactly the same font and colour for my album back because I believe that it would have looked out of place if I didn't. I decided not to put a motion trail on the text because I don't think you would have been able to read it. I am very pleased with these two ideas and might even consider using them as my final products once I have done some improvements on them.

another album cover

Here is another idea for an album cover. Even though it is only plain I still think that it is effective because it catches the audience's attention. I did get the image from the internet but the image of my actor, I have taken myself.

Again...

Here is another album cover and back. These are just simple designs that I probably won't use as final prodects. For the background, I found the image on the internet and edited it in Microsoft Fireworks. I inverted the image to make it look like it does because I didn't like what it was before and I didn't think that it would work.

More ideas

Here is a completely different idea fof my album cover. I decided to keep the title and the image and have a go at something different. I changed the background with an image that I found on the internet and made sure that the space between the title words had the light shining through.
